Restorations, when properly designed, can provide years of healthy, natural looking smiles.  If a tooth is cracked or badly decayed, an onlay or crown can be bonded into place to restore the tooth to its full strength and beauty.  Onlays are the most conservative option for a restoration, requiring very little tooth removal and covering one or more cusps.  Crowns are placed over a tooth, fully encasing, or capping, the entire visible portion of a tooth.  If someone is missing a tooth completely, a bridge can replace the tooth as an alternative to an implant.  Traditional bridges are made of two crowns or onlays on either side of the gap, with a false tooth, or pontic, in between replacing the missing tooth.
